adidas call on fans to smash the silence at SW19

Press Releases, Tennis

June 23, 2014 – As the first day of play begins at the most famous grass tournament in the world, adidas is calling on fans across the globe by an exciting video to show their support for Andy Murray through twitter #smashthesilence campaign. The video also features an internationally well-known friend to the defending champion – do you recognize him?

The 137 year old tournament is known for its sellout crowds and the excitement it generates for tennis across the world. adidas wants to encourage fans, whether they are watching from the stands or cheering players on from home, to tweet using #smashthesilence which will allow support for Andy and other players at the tournament to be harnessed across the social platform.

The two time Grand Slam winner has also been featured in a short film, unveiled today, to help launch the #smashthesilence campaign. The film is live on YouTube now: http://youtu.be/U_7L13itVTU

Andy Murray said; “I’m really looking forward to returning to Wimbledon and starting the defence of my title. The support I got last year was unbelievable and I’m hoping the public will get behind me again. The smash the silence campaign is a great way to help build excitement around the tournament and the short film, which Kevin Spacey very kindly worked on, will hopefully encourage people to get involved.”

‎Besides the smash the silence campaign the defending Wimbledon champion and US Open winner’s powerful counterpunching style will be supported again by the Barricade apparel; bold, confident and made for power tennis.

To get involved tweet #smashthesilence during the two weeks of the tournament and follow @adidastennis on twitter to find out more http://twitter.com/adidasTennis
