HEAD’s Djokovic Reaches Monte Carlo Semis Despite Wrist Pain

Press Releases, Tennis

April 22nd, 2014 – HEAD’s Novak Djokovic is aiming for a quick return to the clay after battling right wrist pain in a 5-7, 2-6 loss in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters. Djokovic was defending the title he won a year ago when he ended the win streak of Rafael Nadal with a victory in the final.

But it was not to be for the Racquet Rebel as he took a loss to Roger Federer after defeating the Swiss last month for the Indian Wells Masters title. The player who recommends the HEAD Graphene Speed, will stay at his Monte Carlo base to rehab his wrist, which he says doctors tell him needs nothing more than rest.
With the countdown to Roland Garros ticking over and the ATP clay season underway, the HEAD player wants to make sure he is fully fit before continuing the battle to seize the top ranking while currently standing second to Rafael Nadal. The HEAD player has been carrying the wrist problem since winning back-to-back Masters 1000 titles in the US in March,

“I had two weeks between Miami and Monte Carlo. It’s not like I was tired or I had some long trips or something like that. It just happened during the practice week. Sometimes it just happens. Sometimes it’s not predictable,” said the Racquet Rebel, who is looking at the positives of his opening week on clay.

“At the end of the day, the end of the tournament, semi-finals is a good result. But I’m disappointed that I could not play as well as I could have. I gave my best really; I’m just very disappointed I wasn’t able to give better effort.
